Salon of Architecture 2011
salon arhitektureAt the Salon of Architecture 2011 held in Belgrade the projects implemented by Housing Center during 2010 were presented – buildings for social housing in supportive environment in Vranje, Negotin, Smederevo and Leskovac.
 
The Embassy of Switzerland started working in the new building
Ambasada SvajcarskeFollowing a comprehensive reconstruction managed by Hosing Center, the Embassy of Switzerland moved into the new building at 4 Bulevar oslobođenja in Belgrade. Housing Center was a consultant for elaboration of the reconstruction design, ensured all necessary conditions, approvals and permits, carried out the bidding procedure for selection of the most favourable contractors and supervised the works during the execution.

Ceremonial opening of the building for social housing in supportive environment in Smederevo (20 flats)
VestiThe keys of 20 flats were handed over at an official ceremony held in Smederevo, in the newly built building for social housing in supportive environment. Sixteen families from the collective center ORA Sartid and 4 socially vulnerable domicile families moved into the newly built building in the settlement of Ćirilovac. The construction was funded by EU, from IPA 2007 funds and the programme »Support to refugees and IDPs in Serbia«. The project was implemented by Housing Center in partnership with UNHCR.

Contract signed with EU concerning the implementation of a project within the programme IPA 2009
Housing Center signed a contract concerning construction of 48 housing units in three municipalities in Serbia, which it was awarded at a public call for proposals launched by European Union. Besides the European Union, which donates 90% of the funds, financial participation for implementation of this project is also provided by Habitat for Humanity, SDC, municipalities Negotin, Obrenovac and Vranje and Housing Center.

Official opening of the building for social housing in supportive environment in Leskovac (20 flats)
LeskovacA building for social housing in supportive environment, intended for the most vulnerable refugees and internally displaced persons from the collective center Atina and domicile population was officially opened in Leskovac, in the settlement Slavko Zlatanović. The building construction was funded by European Union, from IPA 2007 funds. The project was implemented by Housing Center in partnership with UNHCR.

Application to the call for proposals launched by EU
Housing Center took part in the public call for proposals launched by EU concerning the projects intended for enhancing the livelihood of refugees and internally displaced persons in Serbia that is to be financed by IPA 2009 funds. Housing Center applied at the call for proposals independently, with financial support of the municipalities of Negotin, Obrenovac and Vranje as well as of the organizations Habitat for Humanity and SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation).

PrijepoljeThe keys for 13 flats in the building for social housing in supportive environment were handed over at an official ceremony in Prijepolje, in the settlement of Ravni. Eleven families from the collective center Jabuka and 2 socially vulnerable domicile families moved into the newly built flats. The building construction was financed by the Fund of Snežana and Vlade Divac and UNHCR. The project was implemented by Housing Center. The collective center Jabuka was closed following the construction of this building.

The building construction was financed by EU from IPA 2007 funds and within the programme »Support to refugees and Internally Displaced Persons in Serbia«. The project was implemented by Housing Center in partnership with UNHCR.

»The corner stone« was laid in Prijepolje
PrijepoljeIn the settlement Ravni in Prijepolje the corner stone as laid for a new building for social housing in supportive environment with 13 flats. Eleven flats are intended for the most vulnerable refugees accommodated in the collective center Jabuka near Prijepolje or inadequate private accommodation and 2 flats are intended for the domicile population from Prijepolje. The building construction is jointly financed by the Fund of Snežana and Vlade Divac and UNHCR. The project is implemented by Housing Center. The corner stone was laid by Vlade and Snežana Divac, representatives of UNHCR, Commissariat, the municipality of Prijepolje and Housing Center.

fotoIn order to enable the exchange of the experiences in the field of housing policy in Serbia and other European countries, the Serbian Prime Minister’s Team for Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction, UN-Habitat Office in Belgrade and the Ministry of Environment organized an international conference “Access to Social and Affordable Housing”. Different strategic possibilities and experiences related to the development of accessible and affordable housing in Serbia were presented at the conference.
