LTN icoThe third meeting of partner organizations on the ERASMUS+ project "Spreading the Model of Social Services in the Community" was organized in Luton, the United Kingdom, from April 3 - 7, 2017. The host was Mary Seacole Housing Association. The study visit was attended by representatives of partner organizations: Fundacion Escuela de Solidaridad Granada, Spain; Cooperative Sociale Artemide, Latiano, Italy; Organizata Shqiptare e Urdhrite te Maltes, Shkoder, Albania; Ekologichno Sdruzhnie Prebalkan, Sofia, Bulgaria and Housing Center, Belgrade, Serbia.

During our stay in Luton, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the projects that the Mary Seacole Housing Association is engaged on. We visited accommodation facilities for young homeless people, the Stuart house, several smaller refugee and asylum seekers houses, as well as accommodation facilities for women with complex social needs. In the training center, we were presented in detail the work program with beneficiaries and the project of young entrepreneurs, the pupils of the organization on awareness-raising to prevent hate speech. In the Irish Forum Luton we have made contact with representatives of other organizations and institutions with whom the Mary Seacole Housing Association actively cooperates, where we become familiar with the everyday challenges that the city of Luton is facing with in regard to homelessness. Dora Fanelli presented to the participants the concept of the Erasmus+ project "Spreading the Model of Social Services in the Community". At the end of the event, we exchanged practical experiences on the countries which we come from.

The next day was dedicated to visiting the sights of London with an aim of visiting the memorial hall dedicated to Mary Seacole, as well as to comparing the living conditions between London and Luton.

On the last day of our stay in Luton, together with other participants on the project, we were welcomed by the Mayor of Luton, Mr Tahir Khan, Queen's Representative, The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Mr Vinod Tailor and Executive Manager of Housing Needs, Mr Daren Alexander in the City Assembly, where Councilor, Mr Tom Shaw, presented the Homelessness Preventing Strategy 2016-2021. After the visit to the Assembly, we visited selected houses in the ecological garden village of Milton Keynes northwest of Luton.

At the beginning of June, in Belgrade, we will welcome representatives of partner organizations participating in a joint project where we will, besides getting them know about the good practices in Serbia, show them around and present the sights of Belgrade.

The project "Spreading Model of Social Services in the Community" is funded by the EU under the ERASMUS+ program.
