02.02.2017 - Housing Center at the international seminar on Sustainable Housing and Urban Development

Sem icoHousing Center participated in the international seminar on Sustainable Housing and Urban Development which is realized within three years of the Project: Strengthening national capacity for Sustainable Housing, Urban Development and Land Management for countries in transition, which was held from 31st of January until 2nd of February 2017 in Belgrade. This international seminar was jointly organized by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, the Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and is funded by the Development Account of the United Nations (UNDA).

This seminar, with title: Development, Implementation and Monitoring of National Action Plans, promoted objectives and previous results of the project in the participating countries: Armenia, Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Tajikistan. The aim of the UNDA project is to assist National Governments in formulating and implementing relevant policies and develop National Action Plans (NAP) for Sustainable Development, Urban Development and Land Management. The seminar was opened by Aleksandra Damjanovic, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Michelle Saint Lot, Permanent Representative to the UN in Serbia, Tatiana Khabarova, Programme Manager of UN-HABITAT program in the Russian Federation, and Regina Khanbekova, consultant in the Department of Housing and Land Management UNECE.

  • The concepts and methodological approaches to strategic documents in the field of housing and urban development, land management, as well as the activities on the preparation, implementation and monitoring of national action plans was presented. Mr. Remy Sietchiping, representative of UN-HABITAT, and experts hired by UN-HABITAT program presented the methodological guidelines followed by examples from several European countries, while the representatives of the countries participating in the project presented the current level of development and implementation of National Action Plans.   • Presentation of the recently adopted Law on Housing and Maintenance of Buildings by Mrs. Jovana Atanacković, a. Assistant Minister in charge of Housing and Architectural Policies, Public Utilities and Energy Efficiency
  • The National Report of the Republic of Serbia for the Habitat III conference was presented together with the starting points for the planned strategic documents in the field of Urban Development, in accordance with the new Urban Agenda of the United Nations, as well as the Architectural Policy.
