14.10.2016 – Officially opened temporary center for migrants in Bujanovac

Bujan icoOn 14 October 2016. the newly formed temporary reception center for migrants in Bujanovac was officially opened. The overall building reconstruction and its transformation into reception center was financed by the European Union and implemented by the Housing Center. The total value of performed works and delivered equipment is 340.000 Euro. Center was inaugurated by Mr. Aleksandar Vulin, Minister for work, employment and social policy of the Republic of Serbia and Mr. Nicolas Bizel, Head of Section at the EU Delegation in Serbia.

03.10.2016 - HOUSING CENTER AT THE CONFERENCE “HOUSING FOR ALL” IN TIRANA, ALBANIA

02.9.2016 - Collective Center Varna in Šabac will be closed soon

Šabac, 02 September 2016 – By means of construction of 17 pre-fabricated houses and 36 social apartments in protected environment the conditions are met for the final closure of the Collective Center Varna in Šabac. The Collective Center in the settlement Varna is one of the oldest and largest collective centers in Serbia. It has been established in 1993 and accommodates refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees through readmission agreements continuously since then. 22.8.2016 - HOUSING CENTER IS DEVELOPING THE STRATEGY OF SUSTAINABLE HOUSING SOLUTIONS FOR THE SUBSTANDARD NEW SETTLEMENT IN BOGOJEVO

Bogojevo1-icoHousing Center signed a contract with the municipality of Odžaci for elaboration of the Strategy of sustainable housing solutions for residents of the informal and substandard New Settlement in Bogojevo. There are 34 Roma families, i.e. 107 inhabitants, out of which 34 minor children, residing in the settlement. The OSCE study "Assessment of the situation in informal Roma settlements in Serbia" characterized this settlement as unsuitable for living and recommended its dislocation.

11.8.2016 – THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE TEMPORARY CENTER FOR ACCOMMODATION OF MIGRANTS IN BUJANOVAC COMPLETED

DP-Svetlost-nThe works on the reconstruction of the former battery factory SVETLOST from Bujanovac, and its transformation into reception center for migrants and refugees from the Middle East and Syria are successfully completed. The works are financed by the European Union, within the project "For a Better Life", and implemented by the Housing Center. The center will accommodate 250 persons.

30.6.2016 – THE WORKS ON ADAPTATION OF THE TEMPORARY CENTER FOR ACCOMMODATION OF MIGRANTS IN BUJANOVAC COMMENCED

Bujanovac icoHousing Center is implementing the construction works on the adaptation of the administrative building of the company SVETLOST from Bujanovac and its transformation into a temporary reception center for accommodation of migrants and refugees from the Middle East and Syria. 09.5.2016 – NEW SOCIAL HOUSING BUILDING IN MISLODJIN CONSTRUCTED ACCORDING TO HOUSING CENTER ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Mislodjin icoThe social housing building with 32 flats for the most vulnerable Roma families displaced from Belville informal settlement in April 2012 has been opened in Obrenovac settlement Mislodjin. Housing Center architects developed its architectural design and coordinated the development of the main architectural design, having respected all suggestions of the final beneficiaries obtained during the consultation workshops, and having guaranteed the quality of technical solutions and project documentation.

08.5.2016 - Housing Center received acknowledgment of philanthropy

In May 2016 Housing Center received acknowledgment of philanthropy from its long-standing partner Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Government of Serbia. Acknowledgment represents recognition of successful cooperation and joint efforts put in las decade into providing families of forced migrants in Serbia with dignified, affordable and safe housing.
